Basic Aikido for Beginners
each Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
This is a light slow class that includes stretches, breathing and Ki exercise leading to the partner blending exercises and the basic core movements of Aikido.
Each class includes the Aiki Yoga stretching, warm up exercises, basic breathing, centering and Ki exercises. Then the blending movements are practiced, ukemi and then the core foundation technique and principles of Aikido. The basic philosophy of Aikido is covered as well.
weekly, each Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In Basic Aikido we explore the basics of Aikido in a slower pace than the general class. In the basic class we often look at foundational movements and techniques in a more static way. The word for basics in Japanese is Kihon which literally translates to mean – to become solid in Ki.
Every basic class includes preparation and warm up – Juki Taiso and Aikido yoga – breathing and centering – leading to the Basic Blending and Partner Techniques. Both beginner and advanced students attend this training together because of the value that basic class gives to the more advanced practice.
